Youth from all over Louisiana will travel to the SU Ag Center for the Annual Youth and
Family Expo to be held June 17-18, 2005. This 2-day educational event will feature sessions
and workshops on self-esteem, the juvenile justice system, livestock opportunities, drug and
alcohol awareness, along with many other demonstrations and tours.
This year's theme, Sowing Seeds for Success, reflects the purpose of the
Family and Youth Expo, encouraging students to always strive to be the best and inspiring
them for future success. Motivational speaker, Roderick Glover, will address the
participants during the General Assembly, providing knowledge and insight on ways of
achieving success.
The 2005 Family and Youth Exposition will end with a Quiz Bowl, featuring
questions ranging from the history of Southern University to current events. An awards
program will also be held, where the participants and winners of each competition will be
awarded with certificates and trophies.
Regardless of age or gender, the 2005 Family and Youth Exposition are
guaranteed to be enjoyed! For the youth, there will be an educational petting zoo featuring
poultry, rabbits, and goats, for the teens, a public speaking and illustrated talk
competition will be held, along with a Luau/cookout allowing the opportunity to interact
with other students! There are even several sessions scheduled for the adults too!
