Workshop teaches agri-business to local farmers
Louisiana's farmers are evolving into agri-business entrepreneurs, managing livestock and crop production while overseeing the farm's financial
situation. To better prepare their farms to withstand risk, the Southern University Ag Center has joined the North South Institute and the USDA
Risk Management Agency to present a one-day, mini echo workshop, July 19 at 8:30 am, in the Thomas Jackson Lingo Community Center.
This one-day workshop will provide technical assistance to agricultural producers with hands-on activities in agribusiness including:
- farm planning
- financial risk management and farm recordkeeping
- business templates and tools for efficient farm and financial recordkeeping
- enterprise budgeting and cost of production
- cash flow planning and management, and
- alternative marketing.
"Small farmers must begin treating their farms like a business enterprise. This workshop will provide the tools to analyze financial pictures and
make wise use of business documents," says Glenn Dixon, Southern University/LSU Ag Center agent. "These farms are the fabric of our country and
this workshop can only help strengthen that fabric."
Download the registration form here.
All small farmers are urged to attend. To register for this workshop, contact Glenn Dixon at (318) 559 - 0060 or
