Meet the Director

The Southern University Ag Center's newly established Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives hosted a community reception on Monday, March 27, 2006 at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue Street in Opelousas, Louisiana.

SU Ag Center staff introduced programs that are functioning out of the new center located at 232 South Liberty Street. These programs educate citizens about ways to improve the quality of life for adults, youth, individuals and families. In an effort to foster citizen awareness, Ag Center experts also discussed many of the educational activities and resources that are available through the Center’s Cooperative Extension Program. Other discussion topics included nutrition and food safety, financial management, safety in the home and work environment, relationship and parenting skills.
