Faculty, researchers attend successful ARD symposium

Students, faculty, and staff from the nation's historically black land-grant universities converged in Atlanta, Georgia, April 1-5, for the 14th Biennial Association of Research Directors' Symposium. The symposium showcases the universities' commitments of teaching and research by sharing research information and highlighting research accomplishments. The SU Ag Center participated in this event and presented 29 research papers, competitive papers, and posters in various categories: Seven presentations were made in the emerging technologies category; 12 in environmental stewardship and biosecurity; two in food safety, nutrition and health; and eight in small farms and rural development. Among the 35 attendees from the SU Ag Center, four served as judges for oral and poster presentations and one served as session moderator, while 16 faculty researchers and three students presented their findings.

Pictured are urban forestry graduate student Vanessa Ferchaud and SU Ag Center Vice Chancellor for Research Kirkland Mellad, Ph.D., at poster site.
